William Cavendish, 1.° Duque de Newcastle-upon-Tyne KG, KB, PC (Handsworth, 6 de dezembro de 1592 — 25 de dezembro de 1676) foi um nobre, chefe monarquista e literato inglês. William Cavendish was the second child and eldest son in a family of four boys and three girls. His father, the third Duke of Devonshire, was descended from a family which derived from the small town village of Cavendish Overhall in Suffolk — one of his ancestors, Sir John Cavendish, was Lord Chief Justice under Edward III, and was beheaded by a mob during the Peasants’ Revolt, in 1381.
