Fagara (花椒之味, Re xue he chang tuan, litt. « Le Goût du poivre » ou « La Saveur du poivre ») est un film dramatique hongkongais écrit et réalisé par Heiward Mak (en) et sorti en 2019 à Hong Kong .
13 de sept. de 2019 · Even though Fagara doesn’t overtly promote “One China,” it ultimately reinforces the message that the components of the Greater Chinese community share a lot of similarities rather than differences. In that way, Fagara actually promotes Chinese soft power better than any jingoistic film backed by Beijing.
While Lai and Li are solid enough in their matriarchal mini-dramas, Mak finds the heart of the film in Cheng’s memories and visions of her father, leading to an emotional climax far more moving than it probably has any right to be. While Cheng has the starring role, Andy Lau is the biggest name in Fagara’s cast.
Fagara passed our acid test with flying colours - throughout the 30-minute journey home, the missus and I were discussing the movie animatedly, drawing on parallels with our lives and little nuggets of nuances continued to surface. This is a gem and truly the first good film from Hong Kong this year that isn't an action genre flick.
