Virginio Orsini était le fils de Paolo Giordano I Orsini, et d' Isabelle de Médicis . Il hérita des titres et fiefs de son père après sa mort en 1585. Son fils Paolo Giordano II est devenu un prince du Saint-Empire romain germanique par son mariage avec Isabella Appiano, princesse de Piombino. Il mourut à Rome en 1615 .

Sala Orsini Medici: coat of arms of P. Giordano Orsini, Ist Duke of Bracciano and his wife Isabella de' Medici Pius IV raised Bracciano to a duchy in 1560, and this for the benefit of Virginio's great-grandson, Paolo Giordano, a man in whom the mighty nature of his family appeared for the last time.
The building was transformed by Paolo Giordano Orsini when he married Isabella de Medici and Bracciano became the capital of a duchy in 1560. The first duke called the best architects and painters of the second half of the 16th century (Giacomo del Duca, Taddeo and Federico Zuccari) transforming the military fortress into a palace worthy to give hospitality to the daughter of Cosimo de Medici.
