Ethelred of Scotland From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Ethelred was the son of King Máel Coluim III and his wife Margaret, the third oldest of the latter and the probable sixth oldest of the former. He took his name, almost certainly, from Margeret's great-grandfather King Æþelræd Unræd, or Ethelred the Unready.

His eldest son by Margaret, Prince Edward of Scotland, died alongside him. Margaret was told of the deaths by her second son, Edmund. She died on 16 November 1093. St Margaret was canonised in 1251 by Pope Innocent IV.
