Mad. Sancy de Parabère est précieuse par sa robustesse et sa durabilité; c'est un grimpant qui supporte en plein air les hivers les plus rigoureux sans protection ni couverture. Madame Sancy de Parabère a survécu à l'hiver rigoureux de 1879 tandis que ses congénères en furent victimes. Je veux tout de même mentionner une chose.
An old rose is found, unidentified, in the late 19th Century, This rose is then named 'Mme Sancy de Parabere', if it is deemed unique. A few years later, an author writes that the found rose was, in fact, 'Morlettii', and declares them to be synonymous.
However, comparisons with other known portraits of the two sitters, such as Jean-Baptiste Santerre's paintings of The Regent in Armour and his Mistress as the Goddess Minerva, a version of which now hangs in the Trianon at Versailles, and Philippe Duc d'Orléans and Madame de Parabère as Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, render such an identification unconvincing."
