He created ballets such as 'Acis et Galatée' and 'The Dying Swan', and became the resident choreographer of the first season of the Ballets Russes in Paris in 1909. Fokine also played musical instruments and was passionate about painting. He died in New York City in 1942.

It was during World War 1 and he toured with his wife, giving dance concert performances.
