Laurence Hyde, 1st Earl of Rochester KG PC (March 1642 – 2 May 1711) was an English statesman and writer. He was originally a supporter of James II but later supported the Glorious Revolution in 1688. He held high office under Queen Anne, who was his sister's daughter, but their frequent disagreements limited his influence.

Hyde, Laurence (1641/2–1711), 1st earl of Rochester, lord lieutenant of Ireland , was baptised in March 1642, second son of Edward Hyde, the leading royalist and later earl of Clarendon and Charles II's lord chancellor.
Lawrence (or Laurence) Hyde, 1st Viscount Hyde later 1st Earl of Rochester, KG PC was baptized at St Margaret's, Westminster on 15 March 1642, the 2nd son of Edward Hyde, 1st Earl of Clarendon, by his second wife Frances Aylesbury, dau. and eventual sole hrss. of Sir Thomas Aylesbury, Bt., Master of the Requests.
