Le retour en pays natal d’Alexander Selkirk. En octobre 1711, Selkirk revient enfin en Angleterre après 10 ans d’absence quand le galion remonte la Tamise. Wood Rogers, en faillite à ce moment là, profite de l’aventure de Selkirk pour rebondir en publiant son journal de bord avec l’aide d’Edward Cooke.
El naufragio de Alexander Selkirk en Juan Fernández Selkirk nació en 1676 y se embarcó en la expedición comandada por el capitán William Dampier en 1703. Una disputa con el capitán Thomas Stradling sobre la necesidad de reparar la nave lo llevó a quedarse voluntariamente en la isla Más a Tierra, parte del archipiélago de Juan Fernández (cerca de Chile).

On February 1, 1709, Alexander Selkirk, the probable inspiration for novelist Daniel Defoe’s shipwrecked character Robinson Crusoe, was rescued after four years alone on a South Pacific island. Selkirk had been left by his privateering ship, fearing it needed major repairs in order to be seaworthy.
