Alexis Bouvard (June 27, 1767 – June 7, 1843) was a French astronomer. He is particularly noted for his careful observations of the irregulrities in the motion of Uranus and his hypothesis of the existence of an eighth planet in the solar system .

Alexis Bouvard ( Contamines, 27 juni 1767 - Parijs, 7 juni 1843) was een Frans astronoom . Bouvard is de ontdekker van acht kometen, en de maker van tabellen over de banen van de planeten Jupiter, Saturnus en Uranus. Van deze drie klopten de eerste twee wel, maar de laatste had een behoorlijke afwijking met de observaties.

Alexis Bouvard (født 1767, død 1843) var en fransk astronom. Bouvard ble ansatt ved observatoriet i Paris i 1793 og var fra 1807 direktør sammen med François Arago . Bouvard var mest kjent for sine planettabeller , Tables astronomiques (1821), som var allment brukt frem til Urbain Le Verriers teori for de store planetene kom ut.
