Elle est aussi appelée météorite de Hodges, en anglais Hodges meteorite, du nom d'Ann Elizabeth Hodges, la personne que le plus gros des trois fragments de la météorite a percutée [2]. Elle est la première météorite connue avec certitude pour avoir percuté une personne, bien qu'un Milanais en 1677 [ 3 ] pourrait être le premier cas recensé.

30 de nov. de 2022 · The meteor exploded and at 2:56 p.m., a chunk went through the roof of the Hodges home and injured Elizabeth Ann Hodges as it smashed a hole in the roof above her living room, hit her radio and them bounced off her hip. Mrs. Hodges was reported to have been not feeling well and was lying on a couch in her living room when the meteor smashed through the roof and tumbled through the ceiling.

Nel dicembre dello stesso anno, la rivista Life definì “l’incidente” come “il primo caso di aggressione da parte di un autentico missile cosmico nei confronti degli Stati Uniti” e soprannominò il meteorite opaco e nero Big Bruiser From The Sky.
