Edward Seymour, 8th Duke of Somerset (December 1694 or early 1695 – December 1757) was an English peer and landowner. Family [ edit ] The son of Sir Edward Seymour, 5th Baronet , of Berry Pomeroy , a descendant of Lord Protector Somerset by his first marriage, to Catherine Fillol , Edward Seymour was baptised at Easton Royal , Wiltshire , on 17 January 1694.
He was styled Earl of Hertford until he succeeded to the Dukedom in 1748.[1] 'In 1713, he married Frances Thynne, one of the daughters of Henry Thynne (1675–1708) and a granddaughter of Thomas Thynne, 1st Viscount Weymouth, and with her had two children: George Seymour, Viscount Beauchamp (11 September 1725 – 11 September 1744), died young.
