William Carlos Williams (1883–1963) was an American poet and a medical doctor. His mother was born in Puerto Rico. His father was raised in the Dominican Republic. Williams' autobiography was a finalist for the National Book Award in 1952. In 1963 he won the Pulitzer Prize for Pictures from Brueghel. He also wrote short stories and novels.
