He was a member of the family group The Sylvers and became one of the most successful producers in black music in the late 1970s to the mid-1980s through his associa.
The Sylvers were a popular African-American R&B/soul and disco family group during the 1970s. The group was from Memphis, Tennessee. Prior to becoming "The Sylvers", the four eldest members (Olympia, Leon, Charmaine, and James) recorded as the Little Angels, appearing on variety shows such as Make Room For Daddy and You Bet Your Life, and opening for such acts as Johnny Mathis and Ray Charles.
