Einem alten Adelsgeschlecht entstammend wurde Anna Constantia von Brockdorff am 17.10.1680 auf dem holsteinischen Gut Depenau geboren. Den Namen "Gräfin Cosel" erhält sie später. Ihr wird eine breitgefächerte Erziehung und Bildung zuteil. Im Alter von 14 Jahren wird sie Hoffräulein bei Prinzessin Sophie Amalie von Schleswig-Holstein.
Born in Holstein Anna Constantia von Brockdorff came about marrying the Saxon Minister of Finance Adolph Magnus von Hoym to the Dresden Court. With her exceptional appearance she quickly attracted the attention of Augustus the Strong. Equipped wit a secret promise of marriage the King made her his official Mistress.
