When Gerald de Windsor FitzWalter Lord Constable of Windsor Castle was born about 1075, in Carew, Pembrokeshire, Wales, his father, Walter FitzOtho de Windsor, was 40 and his mother, Beatrice de Offley, was 37. He married Nesta ferch Rhys of Wales in 1104, in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 2 daughters.

Son of the first Constable of Windsor Castle , and married to a Welsh Princess, he was in charge of the Norman forces in south-west Wales .
