  1. 4 de may. de 2022 · George James Howard, 9th Earl of Carlisle (12 August 1843 – 16 April 1911), known as George Howard until 1889, was an English aristocrat, peer, politician, and painter. He was the last Earl of Carlisle to own Castle Howard.

  2. The Earl was the eldest son of the 6th Earl of Carlisle and a grandson of the 5th Duke of Devonshire. He had a conventional aristocratic upbringing, and entered parliament as Whig member for the borough of Morpeth in Northumberland, which was controlled by his family, in 1826. He was styled Lord Morpeth from 1825 to 1848.
