17 de feb. de 2011 · Criterion presents Sweet Smell of Success in a wonderful new 1080p/24hz transfer in its original aspect ratio of 1.66:1 on this dual-layer disc. I hate to make such a generalization but for me the transfer is just about perfect. The image is sharp and crisp with excellent definition allowing even the threading in clothing to appear perfectly clear.
In 1993 Sweet Smell of Success was added to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” Below are Lehman’s handwritten thoughts in response to director MacKendrick’s notes concerning the screenplay as of August 1956.

Sweet Smell of Success is 5573 on the JustWatch Daily Streaming Charts today. The movie has moved up the charts by 3308 places since yesterday. In Canada, it is currently more popular than Perfume 8th Tour 2020 “P Cubed” in Dome but less popular than The Importance of Being Earnest.
