George Villiers, 4.º Conde de Jersey. 12 de jul. de 2023 · Sarah Child Villiers, Countess of Jersey (4 March 1785 – 26 January 1867), was a very prominent female figure in Regency society. As the leading patroness of Almack's Assembly Rooms, she was reverently referred to as “Queen Sarah” due to her social status and power over the members of the ton.
Early life. She was born Frances Twysden, daughter of Rev. Philip Twysden, Bishop of Raphoe (1746–1752) and Frances Carter. When she was seventeen, she married George Villiers, 4th Earl of Jersey, who was nearly twenty years older and was Master of Horse to the Prince of Wales and a Lord of the Bedchamber.
