  3. The World of Tim Frazer’ (1962) is the first of three novels penned by an author best remembered for his other mystery-thriller hero, Paul Temple. Having listened to a number of Temple radio dramas, I am pleased to report that Tim Frazer is cut from the same cloth and that his debut novel is a fast-paced page-turner packed full of intrigue and incident.

  4. Francis Durbridge, Anthony Head (Narrator) 3.72. 57 ratings5 reviews. The World of Tim Frazer was the longest–running BBC serial of the early Sixties, and one of the most successful. The popularity of these TV programs inspired Francis Durbridge to write several novels featuring the easygoing engineer–turned–spy Tim Frazer.

  5. It kept us from total boredom while driving on the French motorways counting the kilometres. A typical Francis Durbridge tale with lots of twists and turns, you need to pay attention at all times. I prefer Tim Frazer, the hero, to Paul Temple much less patronising to women. A present.

  7. We never really find out much out about Tim Frazer's background, but he is (luckily) someone who has very steady nerves and can take care of himself in dangerous situations. The Cold War, espionage-based story made a nice change from the robbery/blackmail/extortion plots typical of the Temple tales, and the pace was neither dawdling nor frenetic.
