Known for his portrayal of villains and tough guys, he was a recognizable figure in everything he appeared in. What many might not realize is that he served in the US Marine Corps prior to embarking on his Hollywood career.

6 de mar. de 2024 · Lamont Waltman Marvin Jr., aka Lee, was enrolled and kicked out of several of the best prep schools. Although studied the violin, he preferred hunting, smoking and getting into fights. He followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming a Marine and serving in combat in Asia during World War II as a scout sniper in the 24th Regiment of the 4th Marine Division.
In 1969, Marvin starred with Clint Eastwood in the musical comedy Paint Your Wagon, one of the most expensive films made to date. It too was a success, as was 1970's Monte Walsh. Considering retirement, he did not reappear onscreen for two years, but finally returned in 1972 with Paul Newman in the caper film Pocket Money.
