Abram Petrovič Hannibal (asi 1696, Lagon, Afrika – 20. dubna 1781, Sujda, Petrohradská gubernie) byl ruský vojenský a politický činitel černošského původu. Podle vlastního tvrzení se narodil jako syn náčelníka vesnice Lagon v Habeši (beninský badatel Dieudonné Gnammankou však jeho rodiště ztotožňuje s oblastí řeky Logone ) a byl v dětství unesen tureckými otrokáři.
Ivan Abramovich Gannibal (Russian: Иван Абрамович Ганнибал; 5 June 1735 – 12 October 1801) was an eminent Russian military leader. He was the son of military commander, general and engineer Abram Petrovich Gannibal , as well as the great-uncle of Russia's most famous poet, Alexander Pushkin .
When he was baptized in 1707, he was named Peter after his godfather, Peter I, but documents listed him as Abram of Peter until 1737; from then on he bore the family name of Gannibal. Gannibal was Peter I’s chamberlain and secretary from 1706 to 1717 and studied military engineering in France from 1717 to 1723.
Although the link to Gannibal and his inspiring story was one of Pushkin’s greatest points of personal vanity, it was also a constant, painful reminder of his disconnection from Russian society and the aristocracy into which he was born.
