Born in May 1896, Josias was the last heir apparent to the Principality of Waldeck and Pyrmont as the eldest son of Prince Friedrich and his wife Bathildis of Schaumberg-Lippe.
Prince Georg Friedrich of Waldeck (January 31 1620 in Arolsen; † November 19 1692 in Arolsen) was a German Field Marshal and a Dutch General. In 1641, Waldeck entered the service of the States-General of the Netherlands ; later in 1651, in the service of Brandenburg , he reached the highest rank as minister.

11 de may. de 2024 · In 1712, Friedrich Anton Ulrich, Count of Waldeck-Pyrmont was elevated to Prince of Waldeck-Pyrmont by Holy Emperor Karl VI. Friedrich, the last Prince of Waldeck-Pyrmont, abdicated on November 13, 1918, and negotiated an agreement with the government that gave him and his descendants the ownership of the family home Arolsen Castle and Arolsen Forest.
