Born on 19 November 1779 in the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Duchess Louise Charlotte was the second child and eldest surviving daughter of Frederick Francis I, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, and his wife, Princess Louise of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg . She grew up and was raised at her parents' court in Mecklenburg, alongside her siblings.

She was Landgravine of Hesse-Darmstadt by marriage to Louis VI, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt, and Regent of Hesse-Darmstadt during the minority of her son from 1678 to 1688.

  5. Life[edit] He was the eldest son of Prince Louis Frederick I of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and his wife Anna Sophie of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg. He had three brothers, along with nine sisters, but in 1713 primogeniture was introduced in the principalities of Schwarzburg, and therefore he became the sole ruling Prince of Rudolstadt in 1718.

  6. Between May 1687 and October 1688, he made a Grand Tour, accompanied by his Hofmeister Johann von Asseburg. He was received at the Palace of Versailles by King Louis XIV and in Vienna by Emperor Leopold I. He was also received by Duke Frederick I of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, whose daughter Anna Sophie he would marry on 15 October 1691 at Friedenstein Castle in Gotha. The pair would have 15 children.

  7. 25 de jul. de 2019 · Franz Josias and Anna Sophie had eight children: Ernst Friedrich, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (1724 -1800), married Sophie Antonia of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, had five sons and two daughters. Johann Wilhelm (1726 -1745), unmarried, missing in action during the Battle of Hohenfriedberg. Anna Sophie (1727 – 1728), died in infancy.
