Laurentius Blumentrost ( transcripción rusa Лаврентий Лаврентьевич Блументрост; 1692-1755) fue el médico personal del zar , fundador y primer presidente de la Academia de Ciencias de San Petersburgo , desde el 7 de diciembre de 1725 hasta el 6 de junio de 1733.

Johannes Deodat Blumentrost was the son of the German-Russian physician Laurentius Blumentrost the Elder and his second wife Cäcilia Röver (nee Beermann). After initial training by his father, he received financial support from Tsar Peter the Great to complete his studies at European universities.
The physician Laurentius Blumentrost (1692–1755), who has studied in Halle, Oxford, the Netherlands and Paris, was appointed as the first president. Peter I and Katharina II (1729–1796) (princess of Anhalt-Zerbst, not far from Halle) have supported the exploration of Siberia and the Far East decisively.
