Empress Alexandra Feodorovna was born as Princess Frederick Louise Charlotte Wilhelmine of Prussia in the Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin on 13 July 1798. She was the eldest surviving daughter and fourth child of Frederick William III , King of Prussia , and Duchess L ouise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz , and a sister of Frederick William IV and Wilhelm I, German Emperor.
