The Löwenburg, a pseudo-medieval ruin in the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, was built to emphasise the long reign of the family of Hesse-Kassel, and was actually completed in 1801.

Oberhalb von Schloss Wilhelmshöhe, inmitten des UNESCO‐Welterbes Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, liegt die künstliche Burgruine der Löwenburg. Nach einer langen Renovierungsphase ist das barocke Lustschloss wieder zu besichtigen.
The Löwenburg was not a fortress, but a pleasure palace whose princely living quarters and rich furnishings with historical furniture, paintings, tapestries, glasses, bronzes as well as a magnificent collection of weapons and medieval stained glass windows reflect the great passion for collecting of its builder.
