Swedish royal family. Princess Margaretha, Mrs. Ambler (Margaretha Désirée Victoria; born 31 October 1934), is a member of the Swedish royal family. She is the eldest child of Prince Gustaf Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten, and Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, and the eldest sister of King Carl XVI Gustaf .
In 1798, Désirée married the French soldier Jean Bernadotte who would rise from the ranks to become one of Napoleon's marshals and later be placed on the throne of Sweden by Napoleon and crowned Charles XIV John. Charles XIV and Désirée began the Bernadotte line that continued through the 20th century.

19 de may. de 2017 · Désirée went to live in Rome with Julie and Joseph. She was briefly engaged to a French General, Mathurin-Léonard Duphot. He was killed in an anti-French riot on 30 December 1797. Désirée returned to France, where she met her future husband, Jean Baptiste Jules Bernadotte.
Désirée Clary, a French merchant’s daughter, married as Bernadotte, eventually re-named Desideria, died aged 84 in 1860. She is buried in the Riddarholm church, next to Karl XIV. Agneta Ulfsäter Troell (Translated by Alexia Grosjean)
