  6. He was educated at Magdalen College School, Oxford and Warwick University. He spent eight years as an officer in the British Army until changing to a career in teaching. He was headmaster of Cothill House (2003 – 2011) and ran an outreach programme with the Cothill Trust and the Natural History Museum before a brief stint as the Principal of the Cothill Trust.
