Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi. Italian, 1606-1680. Follow. Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi was an Italian painter, draughtsman, printmaker and architect. He was an accomplished fresco painter of classical landscapes which were popular with leading Roman families. Grimaldi was born in Bologna, and trained in the circle of the Carracci family.
Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi llegó a Roma procedente de Bolonia hacia 1626. A lo largo de su carrera cultivó sobre todo la pintura al fresco, dejando hermosas composiciones, muchas de ellas con sugestivos paisajes, en palacios de familias como los Borghese o los Pamphilj.
