The pious Elector Frederick III of the Rhine-Palatinate (February 14, 1515 - October 16, 1576) was the ruler of the Wittelsbach family of Palatinate-Simmern-Sponheim. He was the son of John II of Simmern and inherited the Palatinate in 1559 from the childless Elector Otto of the Palatinate and his Henry (Ott Heinrich).
