Duke Carl Michael. His Highness Carl Michael Wilhelm August Alexander, Duke of Mecklenburg, Prince of Wenden, Schwerin and Ratzeburg, Count of Schwerin, Lord of the Lands of Rostock and Stargard, was born on 17 June 1863 at the Oranienbaum Palace near St Petersburg. He was the youngest child of Duke Georg and his wife Duchess Ekaterina.

His Highness Georg Leopold Borwin, Duke of Mecklenburg, Prince of Wenden, Schwerin and Ratzeburg, Count of Schwerin, Lord of the Lands of Rostock and Stargard was born on 23 September 2023 in Rotterdam. He is the son of Hereditary Prince Alexander and Hereditary Princess Hande.
13 de abr. de 2024 · The baptism of His Highness Duke Georg Leopold Borwin took place at the Church of Our Saviour, in The Hague, on Saturday 13 April 2024. The baptism service was conducted by Father Sjaak de Boer, who had co-officiated at the religious wedding of Duke Leopold’s parents, Hereditary Prince Alexander and Hereditary Princess Hande.
On 16 February 1851, Catherine married Duke Georg Alexander of Mecklenburg-Strelitz in St. Petersburg. Catherine "loved her husband deeply and selflessly," despite the disapproval of her mother. Although the young couple ended up settling in the Mikhailovsky Palace with Elena, she supposedly did not get along very well with Georg.
Duke Borwin succeeded as head of the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz on 26 January 1996 upon the death of his father Duke Georg Alexander. Due to the terms of the 1701 Treaty of Hamburg , with the death of Hereditary Grand Duke Friedrich Franz of Mecklenburg-Schwerin on 31 July 2001 Duke Borwin became head of the entire House of Mecklenburg.
