23 de mar. de 2023 · Whilst her brother Gruffydd ap Rhys was taken to safety in Ireland, Nest, at the tender age of 13, was taken as a hostage to the English court of William Rufus. This beautiful young hostage attracted the attentions of none other than the King’s brother, Prince Henry Beauclerc (later to become Henry I) and entered into a liaison, which was to result in at least one child – Henry Fitzhenry.

30 de nov. de 2023 · Gerald was the son of Walter FitzOtho and [BOGUS Gwladys ferch Ryall], married Nest of Deheubarth, daughter of Prince Rhys ap Tewdwr and Gwladys ferch Rhiwallon, around c. 1095. Gerald held the office of Constable of Pembroke Castle from 1102, was granted the manor of Moulsford in Berkshire (now Oxfordshire) by the King and built a motte and bailey castle at Carew in Pembrokeshire.
Nest ferch Rhys was the daughter of Rhys ap Tewdwr, last King of Deheubarth in Wales, by his wife, Gwladys ferch Rhiwallon ap Cynfyn of Powys. Her family is of the House of Dinefwr . Nest was the wife of Gerald de Windsor (c1075–1135) , Constable of Pembroke Castle and son of the Constable of Windsor Castle in Berkshire, by whom she was the ancestress of the FitzGerald dynasty .
