Margaret was the youngest daughter of the Elector Joachim I of Brandenburg (1484–1535) from his marriage to Elisabeth (1485–1555), daughter of King John of Denmark. Duchess of Pomerania. She married her first husband on 23 January 1530 in Berlin Duke George I of Pomerania (1493–1531).

At this time he married Mechtild, daughter of Johann I and a sister of reigning Margrave Otto IV, but all of his known children were by a second marriage to Magarete, daughter of Wizlaw II, Prince of Rügen.
Matilda of Brandenburg (died 1316), was a Duchess consort of Pomerania by marriage to Barnim I, Duke of Pomerania. [1] She was the regent of Pomerania during the minority of her sons Barnim II, Duke of Pomerania and Otto I, Duke of Pomerania between 1277 and 1294, in co-regency with her stepson Bogislaw IV, Duke of Pomerania .
