Georg II, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen (2 April 1826 – 25 June 1914), was the penultimate Duke of Saxe-Meiningen, reigning from 1866 to 1914. For his support for his successful court theatre he was also known as the Theaterherzog (theatre duke).

The state of Saxe-Meiningen was merged into the new state of Thuringia in 1920. The capital of Saxe-Meiningen was Meiningen; it had an area of 2,468 km² and a population of 269,000 (1905). The summer residence was Altenstein . The present head of Head of the Ducal House of Saxe-Meiningen is Prince Frederick Konrad (born 1952).

13 de ene. de 2022 · It is part of one of the largest collections of Viennese music outside the Habsburg capital, the Anton-Ulrich-Sammlung, bought and assembled by Duke Anton Ulrich of Saxe-Meiningen (1687–1763), who during one of his residences in Vienna (1725–28) acquired a large number of scores, libretti, and other items of value and had them shipped to his main residence.
7 de sept. de 2007 · Founded in 1681 by Bernhard I, Duke of Saxe- Meiningenn (d 1706), 6th son of Ernst "the Pious", Duke of Saxe-Gotha. On the extinction of the sub-branch of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg in 1825, the Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen gained much additional territory, more than doubling its area. The dynasty ceased to reign 10 November 1918.
