Photograph of Mary Patsy Cornwallis-West, wife of William Cornwallis-West. It is a three-quarters length portrait, sitting sideways on a chair but looking at the viewer, wearing an outdoor dress which is buttoned up to the top and a sailors hat. She had a relationship with Edward, Prince of Wales in about 1874; after her marriage, they continued to be life-long friends.
Born Mary Theresa Olivia Cornwallis-West at Ruthin Castle in Denbighshire, Wales, she was the daughter of Col. William Cornwallis-West (1835–1917) and his wife, Mary "Patsy" FitzPatrick (1856–1920).[1] Her father, born William West, was a great-grandson of John West, 2nd Earl De La Warr.

He was the only son of William Cornwallis West and Mary Adelaide Virginia Thomasina Eupatoria FitzPatrick. Notice of his birth was printed on page 1 of The Hour dated 18 November 1874; BIRTHS. WEST.-14th inst., at Ruthin Castle, North Wales, the wife of Major William Cornwallis West, Lord Lieut. of Denbighshire, of a son and heir.
William Cornwallis-West, husband to the ravishing 'Patsy', lover of the Prince of Wales, fades somewhat into the background, as is perhaps inevitable. It would, however, have been nice to know that William's political career ended with his defeat at the hands of a Calvinistic Methodist timber-merchant after Cornwallis-West split with the Liberal Party over Irish Home Rule.

Known as Daisy, she was the eldest child of Colonel William Cornwallis-West and Mary nee Fitzpatrick, known as Patsy, who was one of the many mistresses of Edward, Prince of Wales (the future King Edward VII ).
