He was made a Privy Counsellor on 31 July 1782, created Marquess of Buckingham on 4 December 1784 and a Knight of the Garter on 2 June 1786. George died on 11 February 1813. [1] On 16 April 1775, George married Lady Mary Elizabeth Nugent, daughter and coheir of Robert, 1st Earl Nugent. George and Mary had two sons and two daughters.
