Like Music for Children and Taboo and Exile, IAO is much a mixed bag with sound-stage theatrics, ambient tribal polyrhythms, experimental noise and a lone death metal track rounding out the disc this time linked with the common theme of magic and the occult.

Mike Patton realizó una de sus últimas presentaciones de tour en conjunto con la banda italiana Zu, abriendo show para Chris Cornell dentro de un Festival ocurrido en Chile a fines de Marzo 2009, una de las pocas fechas que le quedaban antes de prepararse para el "Second Coming Tour 2009" de Faith No More, el cual comenzó el 10 Junio en Londres del presente año.

As usual, John Zorn incorporates a wide array of influences and musical styles in IAO. To his credit, he never loses sight of his reason for creating the music in the first place. Like an alchemist, he seems to be interested in the manifestation and transformation of human physicality into numinous spirit.
