30 de jun. de 1992 · I read this memoir largely because Carol Grace Matthau was twice married to William Saroyan, an author whose work I have enjoyed. I was curious about their relationship. Interestingly, I had just finished reading "Leaving a Doll's House," a memoir by Claire Bloom who was the former wife of Philip Roth, and I found the two books strikingly similar.

But like many women of her generation, she seems not to have had the encouragement, or the courage, to keep that edge honed.
