Defiant Comics was a short-lived comic book company founded in 1993 by Jim Shooter, a former editor-in-chief at Marvel Comics and Valiant Comics (as well as a co-founder of the latter), after he was ousted from Valiant; a lot of Defiant's creative staff were people who had followed Shooter from the company. In the mid-’90s Jim Shooter, once the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics and later a founder of VALIANT comics created DEFIANT comics. Among those that went with him was David Lapham, an artist/writer who would go on to win multiple Eisner Awards for his independent comic work on his own Stray Bullets.

From special edition tin sets, t-shirts and hard-to-find releases, they were off to a good start.
Storia. La Defiant Comics (in inglese fumetti audaci) venne fondata alla vigilia dell'abbandono di Shooter della Valiant Comics. Dopo aver tentato, senza successo, di recuperare la sua parte di quote della Voyager Communications, compagnia che deteneva le quote di maggioranza della Valiant, decise di aprire una nuova casa editrice.
