Do You Believe in Magic first went on sale on October 23, 1965, when the Lovin' Spoonful held an autograph session outside a White Front department store in Pleasant Hill, California. Kama Sutra Records issued the album across the United States in November, [1] one month after the title track peaked at number nine on Billboard magazine's Hot 100 chart. [9]

Not just because of the incredibly prolific John Sebastian (yes he could be overly sugary, but he always made me believe he meant every word, if you listen, you can hear him smiling) but the under appreciated brilliance of Zalman Yanovsky on guitar.

With only five originals on the band's debut release, Do You Believe in Magic, Daydream featured much more songwriting by Lovin' Spoonful co-founder singer and vocalist John Sebastian, who either wrote or co-wrote all but one of the songs on this release. Kama Sutra Records issued Daydream in the United States in March 1966.
