Ermengol en catalán; Ermengaudus en los documentos en latín y Armaqund en las crónicas árabes. Segundo hijo del conde Borrell II de Barcelona y Letgarda de Tolosa. Fue asociado al condado de Urgel en el 989.
Armengol (o Ermengol) VIII de Urgel, conocido como el de Sant Hilari, (1158 - 1209), conde de Urgel (1184-1209). Era hijo del conde Armengol VII y de su esposa, Dulce de Foix. Biografía. Aproximadamente en 1176 se casó con Elvira Núñez de Lara, [1] con la que tuvo una única hija Aurembiaix. [2]

He was the second son of Borrell II of Barcelona and his first wife, Letgarda, granddaughter of Raymond Pons of Toulouse. He was the second of the counts of Urgel and famous mainly for his participation in the Reconquista.
Ermengol or Armengol IV (1056–1092), called el de Gerb or Gerp, was the Count of Urgell from 1066 to his death. He was the son of Ermengol III and Adelaide. Ermengol inherited Urgell when he was only ten years old and ruled under the tutelage of the countess dowager, Sancha, third wife of his father, until he was twelve.
