Hanns Eisler died in 1962. Because of his choice of home in communist East Germany, his music has been totally ignored in the West, although there finally seem to be signs of a revival. [1998 was the centenary of the birth of the composer Hanns Eisler, to my taste one of the most original, interesting and brilliant of this century.

Hanns Eisler (1898-1962) El compositor marxista Hanns Eisler pasó su vida practicando su política a través de la música. Hanns Eisler sírja halála 50. évfordulóján. 1947-ben, a hidegháborús hisztéria tetőpontján az Amerika-ellenes Tevékenységet Vizsgáló Bizottság tevékenységének első áldozata Eisler. Csak a nemzetközi közvélemény nyomására volt kénytelenek megengedni, hogy a zeneszerző saját jószántából elhagyhassa az USA-t.
