The statue of the Duke of Devonshire is a Grade II-listed outdoor bronze sculpture of Spencer Cavendish, 8th Duke of Devonshire, the leader of three British political parties between 1875 and 1903, and is located at the entrance to Horse Guards Avenue, Whitehall, London, England. A work of the sculptor Herbert Hampton, it was unveiled in 1911.

William Cavendish, 2nd Earl of Burlington of the second creation, became the 7th Duke of Devonshire in 1858. He was grandson of the 6th Duke 's uncle, Lord George Cavendish. An accomplished scholar, he became Chancellor of London University at the age of 28, later Chancellor of Cambridge University and founder of the Cavendish Laboratory there.

He served as the leader of the Liberal Party (1875–1880) and the Liberal Unionist Party (1886–1903), both in the House of Commons, and of the Unionists in the House of Lords (1902–1903).
Spencer Compton Cavendish, Marquess of Hartington and 8th Duke of Devonshire (1833-1908), politician, was the eldest son of William Cavendish, 7th Duke of Devonshire and Lady Blanche Cavendish (née Howard). His mother died on 27 April 1840, also leaving two younger sons, Frederick and Edward, and a daughter, Louisa.
