1871. Am 4. Februar 1871, wird Friedrich Ebert als siebtes von neun Kindern des Schneiders Karl Ebert (1834-1892) und seiner Ehefrau Katharina geb. Hinkel (1834-1897), in der Heidelberger Altstadt geboren. Seine Geburtswohnung ist heute Kernstück der ständigen Ausstellung der Stiftung Reichspräsident Friedrich-Ebert-Gedenkstätte.
