Salomon married Maycke Willemsdr Buyse sometime before 1627; the couple had four children, one of whom, Jacob Salomonsz (1629/1630–1681), also became a painter.€ Although Salomon van Ruysdael’s training is unknown, his early paintings were influenced by Esaias van de Velde I (Dutch, 1587 - 1630), who worked in Haarlem from 1609 to 1618.
Salomon Van Ruysdael, Salomon Jacobsz de Gooyer (Naarden, Holanda Septentrional, c. 1600/1603-Haarlem, 1670) fue un pintor barroco neerlandés. Aunque nació en el seno de la familia De Gooyer, decidió cambiar su nombre en honor al castillo Ruijschdaal, ubicado en la actual región de Het Gooi, Hilversum, de donde su padre era originario.
Hijo de Isaack van Ruisdael, pintor y fabricante marcos, y sobrino de Salomon van Ruysdael, debió de formarse en el entorno familiar. El nombre Van Ruisdael está relacionado con un castillo, ahora perdido, en el pueblo de Blaricum. El pueblo fue el hogar del abuelo de Jacob, el fabricante de muebles Jacob de Goyer.
