Berthe Marie Pauline Morisot ( French: [bɛʁt mɔʁizo]; January 14, 1841 – March 2, 1895) was a French painter and a member of the circle of painters in Paris who became known as the Impressionists. In 1864, Morisot exhibited for the first time in the highly esteemed Salon de Paris.
En 1868, Berthe conoció a Édouard Manet, para el que posó en El balcón (París, Musée d’Orsay), presentada en el Salon del año siguiente. A partir de entonces Manet y Morisot mantuvieron una estrecha relación artística durante el resto de sus vidas, que no hizo sino aumentar con el matrimonio en 1874 de Berthe con Eugène Manet, el hermano del pintor.
