William Glackens was an American realist painter who co-founded the Ashcan School of painting along with the artists John Sloan and Robert Henri.Though many of his early works depict the streets of New York and Paris in gritty details and dark tones, his later works recall the gem-like palette of Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
