Baroness Elisabeth of Wangenheim-Winterstein (16 January 1912 – 15 March 2010) was the wife of Charles Augustus, Hereditary Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, and the mother of Prince Michael, current head of the House of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach.
Baroness (German: Freiin) Elisabeth and her twin sister Dorothée were born on 16 January 1912 in Tübingen, Württemberg to Baron Othmar von Wangenheim-Winterstein and his wife, Baroness Maud von Falkenstein. [1] [2] [3] Her family lived in Thüringia at Behringen Castle. Her mother died in childbirth in 1913, leaving a son, Jobst. [2]
Prince Michael was born in Bamberg, Bavaria, the only son of Hereditary Grand Duke Charles Augustus of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and Baroness Elisabeth von Wangenheim-Winterstein (1912–2010). Among his godparents were Queen Juliana of the Netherlands and the Grand Duchess Anastasia of Russia imposter, Anna Anderson , who was living with his aunt Princess Luise of Saxe-Meiningen.
