Gammaproteobacteria include an exceeding number of important pathogens, e.g. Salmonella, Yersinia, Vibrio, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Like all Proteobacteria, the Gammaproteobacteria are Gram-negative. Some Gammaproteobacteria are methane oxidizers, and many of them are in symbiosis with geothermic ocean vent dwelling animals.
