  2. A Habsburg place of remembrance. Königsfelden Abbey was founded in 1308 by the royal dowager Elisabeth of Gorizia-Tyrol, on the site where her husband, King Albrecht I of Habsburg, was murdered. The Abbey became a place of remembrance for the king and all deceased Habsburgs. The double abbey with Franciscans and Poor Clares existed until 1529.
